Riding To Vancouver PDF Print E-mail

The temperature today dropped slightly to 33C (91.4F) and was slightly less humid so we decided to venture into Vancouver on the motorcycle. We had made plans to meet Jay and Rachel, his ex-girlfriend, (even though they are no longer a couple, they have maintained a friendship) visiting here for the weekend from Toronto. The ride into Vancouver was very hot and even in shorts and t-shirts; the air did little to cool us. Fortunately, it was much cooler in the city and we opted to park the bike and walk once we got there anyway.

After a nice lunch on a shaded outdoor patio in Yaletown we hailed a cab into Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium, one attraction we had yet to see. Somehow I had imagined it to be a cool (as in cold) destination (which it might have been with less people in attendance) but it was probably warmer there than it would have been downtown. It was interesting though and on a weekday it would probably be much more enjoyable however despite the crowds, we had a good afternoon.

We ended our day with Jay and Rachel at Cardero’s Restaurant in Coal Harbour, another pretty waterfront area of downtown Vancouver. By the time we walked back to Jay’s apartment where the bike was parked, the sun was setting and it was time to head back to Mission. The air had cooled nicely making for a more pleasant ride home than our ride in but either way, we were just happy to be riding the bike.
