And one little boy has been very happy all day. Makai’s Nana and Papa, Becky and Lachie, arrived this afternoon from Victoria armed with gifts and all kinds of yummy home-made treats including a beautiful, made-from-scratch GINGERBREAD HOUSE! Apparently this “house-of-sweets”, aside from being made with an enormous amount of love, is also a MacLachlan family tradition going back to when Ian (Makai’s daddy) was a young boy. According to Becky it takes several days to construct; between the baking of the gingerbread, the “gluing” of the roof and walls (with homemade icing) and trimming it with candy makes for a lengthy process. It will be a shame to eat it!

With Uncle Jay at his beck and call all day and two sets of grandparents to dote on him, Makai has been completely in his element. For him it has been a whirlwind day spent playing, eating, running and being loved by everyone. Monet was dressed in some Christmas togs for pictures but, let’s face it, Christmas is over her head this year and she is oblivious to the commotion around her.

It’s been a busy day and as it winds down Becky is doing some turkey prep work in the kitchen, Rick is wrapping gifts, Lachie is relaxing after some strenuous “play-doughing” with his wee grandson who is getting ready for a good nights sleep (we hope). I suspect it will be an early night for the adults so we can be well rested for a bigger, busier day tomorrow. Merry Christmas Eve Folks!
