Yesterday, after securing Internet access with Pier Street Computers, we decided to drive up the coast to check out Ripple Rock RV Park, a place we had considered staying in for this month. They had a site available for us, but we chose Salmon Point instead and we just wanted to confirm that we had made the right decision.

The park is accessible by taking a winding, dirt road for about 4.5 kms (which reminded me of the drive into Grandview Lodger Resort) something we had driven almost daily for six months every year for 12 years in the past. The difference though is that this would have been a road driven in a 42-foot motorhome as opposed to a car and not one we would have enjoyed. However, once we arrived we found the view and park to be spectacular. The sites are large, paved and every one offers an incredible view of the Strait of Georgia. On the downside is the road and the distance from Campbell River where we'd have to go for groceries every few days. We are happy to say for us at this time, we made the right choice with Salmon Point.

On the way back, we stopped along the Sea Walk outside of Campbell River to admire the dozens of large woodcarvings in one of the roadside parks. Apparently, they were part of an event where several amateur to professional artists competed to produce these amazing sculptures. It appears that they were carved with the use of chainsaws and they were as varied as they were a demonstration of some talented sculptors. We had a "scenic" day.
