I am not sure where we heard that the temperatures westward would be below normal, but wherever it was, so far the forecasters are wrong. Last night in Kenora, the overnight temperatures didn't dip as low as they did in Thunderbay and the furnace barely came on at all. Today we again enjoyed a beautiful sunny day with the temperature actually peaking somewhere above 30C, making for another great driving day.

We whizzed through Manitoba, stopping only once just east of Brandon to eat lunch at a restaurant and then we continued our trek. We stopped at the travel centre at the Saskatchewan border to see if we could find a campground somewhere along Highway 1 and we learned that Saskatchewan has a time zone all of their own. It seems they don't observe daylight savings time; hence, we gained another hour today. Considering we didn't expect to have another time change until we got to Alberta, it came as a nice surprise.

As I write this we are staying in a little municipality-run campground in a town called Whitewood, Saskatchewan, located approximately 175 kilometres from Regina and 930 kilometres from Calgary. It is 6:30 PM, Saskatchewan time, it is still 26C and Rick and Fred are cleaning the bug carcasses off the front of the motorhome...again. It is a task they have done everyday since we left Coldwater but so far, this is the worst the windshield has been. We will be crossing more of the prairies tomorrow and no doubt, the bug décor will be even worse then so for now, they are getting lots of practice. The task of removing the dead insects is a small price to pay for such great weather and we can only hope the forecast we heard before was wrong!!
