apr 21-07.jpgThis morning we slept in a little; Wakarusa is only about 260 km. (160 miles) from Indianapolis so we knew we had an easy drive ahead of us. Indiana is relatively flat and our experience has been that the state has great roads so no matter what route we would take to get there; it would be a smooth going. The sun was shining and the expected temperature was calling for a high of about 25°C (77°F); another perfect driving day.

Thursday and Friday, also had perfect driving weather with warm temperatures meaning it was also perfect for bugs... dead bugs squashed all over the windshield. It is difficult to clear the windshield of them at night when we stop and in the morning with the sun beating on the windshield, any cleaning just seems to make the windshield worse. Needless to say, Rick hasn’t been able to clean the windshield and consequently my picture taking has come to a dead stop (kind of like the bugs).Laughing

We took a route less direct than the one we have used in the past, just because we could and because it was different and after stopping in Warsaw for a late lunch and to pick up a couple of organic veggies, we arrived in Wakarusa by 3:00 (eastern time). The last time we were in this part of Indiana they didn’t observe daylight savings time and there was an hour time change between here and Ontario. But it seems Indiana adopted daylight savings time a year ago and some counties previously in the central time zone switched so it’s not a wonder we are a little confused about the time.

Anyway we are parked in the service area at the Travel Supreme factory, just one of several Travel Supreme rigs here for work next week, hooked up to power and water with a dump station at the entrance. The satellite dishes are working well; Rick is enjoying a NASCAR race right now and I am writing. This great weather is to hang around for another day so tomorrow we are looking forward to cruising around Amish country on the bike. There is no helmet law here so we may even get to feel the warm wind blowing through our hair while we ride!

On the map, #1 is the Flying J where we stayed last night and #6 is Wakarusa, Indiana where we are staying for the next few days.
