We were up fairly early this morning partly because of the train, but also because we wanted to get on the road to Louisiana. The sky was overcast and the forecast was calling for the possibility of thunderstorms, so the sooner we set out, the sooner we would arrive and possibly miss the weather. The traffic on US Interstate 10 wasn't too heavy and we made good time. We stopped at the Louisiana Welcome Center to pick up any information that we could get and a state map. We were heading for a small town south of Lafayette called Abbeville in the heart of Cajun Country.

We arrived at Betty's RV Park just after 2:00 PM. Betty's RV Park is a tiny park owned and operated by Betty Bernard, a delightful hostess who greeted us as we drove in. After we set up in one of the 12 full-service sites, we went into Betty's home office to register. She has lived in the area her entire life, is a wealth of information and immediately makes a camper feel at home. At 4:00 she host's a "Happy Hour" where the guests can mingle, share stories and learn more about the area from Betty and each other. She has been doing this for five years and it is easy to see why it has been voted one of the "Top 25 RV Parks in America".

It goes to show that bigger is NOT necessarily better.Wink
