Beautiful Weather Has Arrived! PDF Print E-mail

This morning we woke up to beautiful weather, clear and sunny with an expected high of 24C. We had arranged to go hiking through Thetis Lake Regional Park with Dolores so we were up early. It was something we have wanted to do for a while and today's conditions gave us the perfect opportunity.

Thetis Lake Park is beautiful, with huge Douglas Firs, Garry Oak Trees and ferns and greenery surrounding Upper and Lower Thetis Lake. There are a number of trails, some for mountain biking, that surround the lakes and they range from easy to challenging. We encountered several other people walking their dogs, jogging or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll. We came back to the campground for lunch and enjoyed walking along the beach and being able to see Victoria clearly in the distance.

Our satellite Internet is back in operation thanks to Armand's "service call" on the weekend, even though we are still using cable as well. We have acquired a Primus Broadband phone and for those of you who hate dealing with "Ma Bell" and enjoy cable TV and Internet, it may be something to consider. It costs us $45 a month for unlimited calling anywhere in Canada and the US. We use a regular telephone and the service is very good, with no delays. It has disconnected a couple of times but I can call people right back. Theoretically, it should work via the satellite too, though there will probably be some delay. The advantage is that we can maintain our number wherever we are when we are parked. Hopefully, this system will make the phone companies pull up their socks and offer better flat-rate service.
