A Rainy Day at Salmon Point PDF Print E-mail

The rain has arrived at last, welcomed by so many B.C.'ers due to the extremely dry conditions here. It was a nice steady rain and in a sense it gave us permission to stay indoors, to be couch potatoes and to do little but enjoy the sound of it falling on the roof. We will be staying in Vancouver this winter and we figure that we might as well learn to enjoy the rain, as we'll be getting lots of it.

The rain arrived early in the morning and it poured steadily until mid-afternoon but by 3:00 PM it stopped so we ventured into Campbell River so that I could upload my journal entries and we could both check our email. John, at Pier Street Computers gave us another gift of smoked salmon (our second from him), which we will enjoy later. We learned from him that a committee of approximately 200 volunteers maintains the trails we enjoyed yesterday at Strathcona Park, he being one of them. They hike into wherever the trails need work with lumber and tools on their backs and build the boardwalks and lay the wood chips as necessary, a huge undertaking.

After a good meal at a local Greek restaurant, we headed back to the motorhome for a quiet evening of watching TV. The mountains we normally can see across the channel have magically taken refuge from sight behind the clouds and our view has changed. This rainy day has been a good one!

One more thing....Happy Birthday to my much loved sister, Christine! I hope it was a good one! Laughing
