White Rock, BC Print

Starting tomorrow, we are staying in Vancouver for a month so today we decided to go to White Rock and enjoy some BC coastline. The weather here is sunny, with expected waterfront temperatures of 17C (63F) and in town at 23C (73F), a really pleasant day. Luckily, the weatherman is calling for more of the same until Sunday, so we should have a good weekend.

White Rock, a city of approximately 64,000 is about 30 kilometers south of Vancouver and only 5 minutes from the Peace Arch border crossing on the Semiahmoo Peninsula. They enjoy an average summer temperature of 23C (73F) and it is often sunny and clear there while it is overcast in Vancouver. It is only 10 minutes from where we are parked so we drove into White Rock for lunch. After we parked near the waterfront we walked out onto the pier and were lucky enough to see a large bald eagle sitting on some boulders quietly surveying the water.

We then proceeded to walk along the strip of restaurants and shops at the waterfront in search of a lunch spot. There was no shortage of choices and we settled for a bowl of soup and a prawn salad, which we enjoyed outside on the patio... very tasty. On the way home, we stopped at one of the produce stores for some fresh organic fruit. It is so nice to pay for our purchases with a debit card again and know what the full price is in Canadian dollars right away. Our meals and groceries are certainly a lot less than what we paid in the states. It's good to be back!
